Safe place to live with wonderful neighbors User Rating 5 rating By Anonymous ( Dec 09, 2020) I absolutely love living in Canton. I feel very safe and it is very clean. People are friendly, mostly white conservative republicans live in this area. There is a strong sense of community. It is definitely more of a upper class neighborhood. It is higher priced than a lot of a ...Read More reas, but worth it. Lots of shopping with a trendy little down town area for night life and lakes and parks close by. I was going to move to Woodstock, but glad I didn’t . The only thing that is lacking in Canton is sidewalks. Maybe one day the city will put them in. Read Less

There is shopping and restaurants everywhere with lots of out door things to do in Canton. Down town Canton is a trendy spot to go out at night. Do NOT move to Canton!!! User Rating 0.5 rating By Anonymous ( Jul 25, 2019) Never say you weren't warned! We have lived in Canton, Georgia for one year and are planning a move AWAY!! In the course of this year there have been multiple shootings, robberies and countless issues which make the streets unsafe. There is NO real public transportation and ...Read More absolutely nothing to do for entertainment. The quality of life has, according to other residents, fallen rapidly in the past several years. The cost of living is no longer a "deal." The City of Canton does absolutely NOTHING to resolve issues with water lines, electricity lines, streets, etc. In general, this area has taken a real nosedive. Fortunately, I do not have school aged children as the schools, as a whole, are simply AWFUL....talk to any parent! This is the worst place we've ever lived (and we've moved around quite a bit.) Just don't come here!! Read Less

Cherokee County Georgia, for the Fickle Minded User Rating 3 rating By Anonymous ( Sep 11, 2012) I have lived in Cherokee County, GA for six years. Cherokee County is located about 40 miles North of Atlanta, the largest city in the state of Georgia. Living in a northern suburb of Atlanta has been difficult as a young woman in my twenties. Many of the residents commute to the ...Read More metro Atlanta area for work, have families and children in the local schools, or are of the elderly and retired population. This area is not home to a night-life, with a very small amount of residents in their 20-30's. Living expenses are nearly equal to Atlanta, which does not provide a strong incentive to live in the area, especially with gas prices and the cost of commuting. Since most job opportunities are in the city and this area does not offer a lower cost of living, this is not a desirable location for young couples and recent college graduates.

On the other hand, there are colleges like Reinhardt University, Georgia Highlands, and Chattahoochee Technical College nearby. These schools cost significantly less to attend, and not located in actual "college towns," making it great for students paying their own way through college and do not desire a typical college experience. Although the housing prices are low, the rental prices remain high, appealing to those who are capable of buying a house. However, if you have a family and can work locally, this would be an ideal place to live. Any way to avoid battling traffic on a daily basis! For families, it is far enough from Atlanta to enjoy the perks of a small town, but close enough for access to the airport and everything the city of Atlanta has to offer.

Cherokee County has great schools, a rapidly growing population, and a host of recreational activities with beautiful lakes and Blue Ridge Mountains nearby. Living here, you will get a healthy dose of very southern, rural people, young families, and the nontraditional college student. Read Less
