If You Can See the Big Pink Smiley Face You're in Calumet City! 3 rating By Anonymous ( May 14, 2018) Calumet City is a southern suburb located about 25 minutes away from Chicago. It’s an average neighborhood that hasn’t changed significantly over the past decade. I liked living in Calumet City because of the access to public transportation and expressways taking commuters do ...Read More wntown and to other parts of the city. Most commutes are a breeze.

One of the best areas in Calumet City is Sibley Boulevard known as 147th Street because of its leading access to nearly everywhere nice to visit. Stopping for a gyro sandwich from the fast food restaurant Nicky’s located east on 147th street is highly recommended. One of the downsides to living Calumet City is the increased crime rate. Unfortunately the crime is bringing down the neighborhood's value.

I do appreciate the way the school systems are set up here. There is elementary, middle and then high school in separate locations. I was able to create lasting friendships growing up in a then close-knit city. Read Less
