Enjoying Small City Culture in Burlington, NC User Rating 4 rating By Anonymous ( Apr 17, 2015) A few years back, my family decided to move to Burlington, NC. My wife and I took this decision, because we wanted our daughter to join the Blue Ribbon private school in this city. What caught our attention, apart from the school districts in Burlington, was the housing price. The city is sparsely populated and features beautiful and quaint communities. If you are looking for a small city vibe away from stress, traffic and busy city lifestyle, then Burlington is the place for you.

However, finding big city amenities in Burlington is difficult. Although there are many recreational opportunities in this beautiful North Carolina city, it is unusual to find a trendy shopping mall or a posh entertainment hub here. There are a number of scenic parks in this town. If you are one of those outdoor enthusiasts, then you will love staying in Burlington. My family loves taking a trip to the Cedarock Park and the Great Bend Park at Glencoe in most weekends. We love hiking, nature walk and biking. In addition, this quaint town offers excellent paddle opportunities with six recreational hiking and paddle trail choices. The town is also home to some golf courses, tennis courts and baseball fields.

Finding work opportunities in this old-industry town is not difficult. However, you cannot expect to find big oil companies or IT industries. Still, small business owners will love staying here as the growth opportunities for small businesses are bright here. For shopping and cultural activities, we often visit the specialty markets in the Chapel Hill area and Raleigh. Even the Greensboro and Winston-Salem area is perfect for cultural activities, weekend fun and shopping. Weather in Burlington is quite pleasant with moderate year-round temperature. Read Less
