The traffic is light and you rarely have to stand in line. The area is predominantly white but does not seem racist. There are pockets of lazy people who don't clean up their yard and leave their dogs out on a chain. Housing prices have increased since I moved here in 2021. W ...Read More
hen they replace the temporary casino with a resort, I'm "betting" that Bristol will become more upscale and accessible. So many places close for the winter and on Sundays.
The weather reminds me of Hawaii, where it will rain for a short time and then the sun comes out. More sun and less rain than Portland, OR. Last winter was moderate but this Christmas the temp dipped to 2 degrees. My heat pump switches to auxiliary and won't go above 60. In San Diego I complained about the heat (80 degrees on Thanksgiving) but at least I could walk my dogs. I find myself a little bored here. Johnson City is just 35 mins away, with shopping and dining, but the traffic is heavy which makes me look forward to heading back to Bristol. I wish there were more restaurants overlooking bodies of water. There is only one I can think of in Kingsport. The Marinas offer dining but most are closed in winter. Downtown Bristol seems tight and dark compared to Kingsport's wide open area with parking in the middle. Bristol is a good place to live!

I should stress this. I am a mixed woman and this place is a HEAVILY white community. Not that they are not friendly these people are super friendly buuuuuut be prepared for a few microaggression run ins. That WILL happen. And when you first move here expect so looks (not nasty l ...Read More
ooks more like "woah" looks) Which is weird because just over the on the V.a side still mostly white, but they seemed to really make an effort to integrate colors into the community.
There really isn't much in Bristol expect the Speedway a output. I would highly not recommend going to many restaurants they.....aren't good at it. Except for Tooties, Tooties seems to know how to hit the local crowd and newcomers. It really is the only restaurant that I repetitively came back to. My neighbors are friendly actually the best I have ever had. But with Kushner not evicting people front their home there are alot of houses on foreclosure sooo...that may change? I don't know. As for what to do here......ooof nothing. There is nothing to do here, you can go on walks but just finding a Nature park was hard because hard. Because when you google them here, it's like Bristol doesn't understand the difference between a Nature park and a recreational park. It took us forever to find and trust rooster park and steel creekpark. But Rooster park has a gorgeous trail.
Oh apparently, there is this vote amongst the community about turning a mall into a casino. I personally would the city desperately needs an attraction the businesses have no competition as round here and it shows in the quality. And yeah there is the state line street, but with nothing else to do and Dollywood being about 2 hours away. It's just better to head on over to either kingsport or Johnson city. OMG Johnson city is superingly good. Expect trashy yards here it's just that not many houses in Bristol hold storage capacity in their homes and renting a garagecan be expensive, they have friendly neighbors, terrible restaurants (can fix mistakes but can't fix not caring), local utility services to not put in an effort (the management part so it seems workers seem hardworking and frustratedwith management), beautiful view of the mountains and creeks.
If you are a Trumper this the place for you ALOT of like minded people. They are surprisingly big on recycling and I'm not talking the blue trash can. That's a stupid way of recycling, like they are almost German about it.
I LOOOOVE THAT. Hmmmm what else. Yeah this town has potential but they just need that tourist commerce and you can't sell me Bristol speedway because the stadium does look so cool. But at the end of the when people say Nascar not one person is thinking of Bristol Tennessee because they city desperately needs attractions to pull in that tourist/traveler money. They don't have to go overboard. But it would make a difference for the positive.
OH BEFORE I GO!! Non drinkers wouldn't care for this but people who like a drink here and there would be trying to find this out. Mon-Sat 6 am to 11 or 12 PM. No hard liquor on Sundays just beer, canned cocktail, and wine.

I have lived in Bristol for about 10 years. This is my home, and I don't see myself leaving any time soon simply because I enjoy the area. It's a quiet town, but you can definitely tell that it's a town dedicated to various types of sporting events. The Bristol Motor Speedway is ...Read More
by far the most popular attraction that is here. It sits in a valley, allowing you to view the beautiful mountains that surround the speedway while you're watching a race or enjoying one of the other events that are held there during the year.
Country music is another staple in Bristol. The Country Music Museum is an attraction that you must visit. There are figures of some of the popular singers as well as exhibits with a variety of musical items associated with the genre. State Street is a popular thoroughfare in the city. It's where the shopping centers and restaurants are located. It does tend to get busy, especially at night, but it's tolerable compared to larger cities in the country.
