Excellent family town...if you can live with the weather. User Rating 4 rating By Anonymous ( Feb 22, 2020) I've lived here for 2.5 years. My wife is from here. It is an excellent place to raise a family. Town is just big enough---not too big, expensive, or congested like Ann Arbor----and not so small it feels dated or forgotten. Housing market is good with a fair inventory and prices ...Read More . All the amenities you would need for a medium-sized town. We dont have kids but the consensus is schools are well-funded and quite good. Lots of local parks and metroparks that are generally uncrowded if you know where and when to go. It is not very diverse (if that matters to you)---mostly middle to upper middle class white folks.

Now to the drawbacks: Weather. It SUCKS for much of the year. That is Michigan in general. Grey, grey, and more grey; with long cold winters that have neither an abundance of fresh snow or sunshine. Spring is rainy and unpredictable, summer is generally warm and pleasant but can get pretty humid; and fall is dry and beautiful. But winter is a 6-month season here and it gets to everyone. For this reason alone we will probably not stay long-term.

The only other real drawback, in my opinion, is the traffic congestion on US-23 (the main north-south highway) during the week. Also, road quality in general is atrocious. Michigan puts very little money into their roads and the little they do is mismanaged. Read Less
