We've considered a lot of places and decided to settle in Benbrook. It's a suburb of the Fort Worth area about five miles from Southwest Fort Worth which is the nicest part of Fort Worth in my experience.
Benbrook has a lower crime rate than Fort Worth and has more of a small to ...Read More
wn feel, even rural feeling in some parts. Homes are priced below the national average while incomes are above the national average, so it's a place where you are hopefully going to feel comfortable in the area of finances and stress. Two areas to watch out for are home insurance (Spring storms) and property tax (if you go for a big/luxury type home).
Low cost of living, no state income taxes (rejoice!), friendly people, not too much traffic, great for running a business (low regulation/taxes), lots of shopping and medical nearby and some nice things to do in nature (creeks and trails, boating and swimming in Benbrook Lake... and golf, if that's your thing). I can't speak for schools as we homeschool but can say that the elementary and middle / high school in my neighborhood are still fairly new and the kids on our street walk to them. It's hot in the summer (!) but we've gotten used to it over the course of years (get a covered patio, use the lake, consider a pool).
I notice AreaVibes assigns a "D" for Amenities. That must be a mistake because while Benbrook itself basically has only Walmart and fast food, it borders southwest Fort Worth which has everything. Target and Whole Foods are literally one freeway exit from Benbrook and as you probably know, if there's a Target (and especially a Whole Foods), there's everything else. I'd give Benbrook at least a B+ for Amenities because of proximity to Fort Worth. A new toll-road taking you to downtown Fort Worth in no-time is just an exit away too!
All the best to you!

Living life as a single parent with no where to turn, I went back to school. That is what in fact brought me right here to living in Benbrook. After grad and moving into my new home, I thought about whether or not I could live here in Benbrook for the rest of my life or if it wou ...Read More
ld just be another pit stop, you know?
I found the answer one day at the Whitestone Golf Club while playing a round of 18 with the fellas. I knew about the rich history of Benbrook and the many accolades of greatness and purity that the city is surely proud of. I understood that, but the real meaning of sanctity is the surround of yourself with many options.
I recognized from the jump that engulfing the culture would particularly elevate my mental to a state of pure bliss. Benbrook was home, and I can finally reunite my family in a place where people judge you on what you know and not what you look like.
