Brutally Charming Perhaps User Rating 3 rating By Anonymous ( Apr 03, 2020) Bayonne is sort of a hick-town in a geographically urban area. It is composed of everything from multimillionaires living in palatial mansions on the Newark Bay who are not looking for status beyond their own spectrums, to everything in between, including folk living in grinding ...Read More poverty. It a carbon copy of the Bay Ridge section of South Brooklyn, but a lot cheaper and less convenient. Because the only one seat rides to new york city are on the NJ Transit Bus #119 , which travels all the way through jersey city and union city only to enter the lincoln tunnel and stop running after 1am or so, the prices are a far less expensive than newport, paulus hook, downtown jersey city, or even little india in j.c. i don't even think that the ferry from the remote bayonne cruise area to manhattan is in existance yet, and the price one-way was supposed to be $17, which is the same price as driving your car through the tunnel. the light rail makes frequent stops and one must wait as much as 30 minutes for it to arrive, especially during off hours, only then to have to deal with the tranfer to the PATH train at Newport, Exchange Place, or Hoboken. If one is looking for a one seat ride, it would even be better to look at one of the leafy suburbs, such as maplewood, cranford, westfield, summit, or bound brook. the same amount of time on the train from those locales would be equivalent to the mass transportation ordeal in bayonne. what saves bayonne somewhat is its affordability for renters, or for folks that hate suburban isolation and driving all over the place in frenetic traffic , such as in union twp. or springfield. a row house here, although it can be combined into 4 apartments, goes for the same prices as a charming older home in watchung or warren, where the school systems are first class and there is immediate access to route 78. there are also panhandlers in the quik checks here, but the local stores on broadway have some really swell prices and the bakeries are delicious, as well. if one is a snob, bayonne is not the place for you. it is filled with new, luxury high rise buildings under construction for those fleeing the high rents of the jersey city and hoboken gold coast or even manhattan or brooklyn. a few bone thin blondes are replacing the old time salts who are fleeing to toms river or the poconos, as well. egyptian, korean, and pakistani immigrants are also buying up the businesses and burying the archie bunker or uncle guido type of stereotype that bayonne has always had. if you are looking for peace, quiet, and relatively low rent, with preferably a garage and an elevator, bayonne is your answer. southwards toward the staten island area, there is also plenty of on-street parking, as well. Be aware not all that shiny is gold User Rating 0.5 rating By Anonymous ( Jul 21, 2019) First of all I lived in Bayonne for over 20 years I consider it my hometown The truth that It would never be like Hoboken not today not tomorrow not in any day and the reason is if you want to get to New York you need at least two transportation it takes two hours to get there ...Read More I don’t know why people lie about getting there in 30 minutes some of them‘s claim that you can get to New York from Bayonne in 15 to 20 minutes But I sure you that this claim is happened to be by the property owners that want to rent the properties or sell it for a high price if this lie continue the greedys will suffer a big loss in the future Plus the schools only few of them that great the rest it’s just a waste of time and as far as the property tax it’s the one of the highest amount all the cities in New Jersey People talking about development do they know that this development about to be built on a flooded area if we got hit again with another Sandy it will be devastating I bet this city in the future it’s going to witness the biggest foreclose and Bank Repsie in the history and that’s all because of the lie they have been feeding people through the social media and local news the city always raise The tax higher and the owners never speaks and the reason is because they support their lies Read Less
18Th street lofts User Rating 0.5 rating By Park12345 ( Apr 04, 2017) STAY AWAY FROM 9 E 18TH STREET! I was so excited to find this place. The lofts are absoultely beautiful for the price. I work in the city and I found the commute to be relatively easy. However, only after 30 days of moving in I felt extremely harassed and uncomfortable. The landl ...Read More ord is incredibly rude and condescending. I found another apartment immediately. After moving in I stored my boxes in the recycle area and was questioned about it. Then, the former tenant came by to retrieve mail...she heard us speaking and a few days later asked me if I had a roomate! Wow. Then...I locked myself out and she was livid that she had to open the door for me...wow again. I lived in a managed building in NYC for 7 years before living there and was always regarded as one of tbe best tenant. This landlord thougbt i was a fool...but she was mistaken. Don't let the ambiance fool you..unless yoh are over 50, retired, or don't minf tip toeing around your home, STAY AWAY. This place is absolute hell..especially if you are a private person. I have never felt so insulted in my life. Dont do it. These people are horrible. Read Less

The city of Bayonne is a great place to visit for a day trip. Speaking of longer trips, Bayonne may not have much to offer as it is a small and quiet community. There is some nightlife in Bayonne, restaurants are decent and the community is superb. Bayonne would truly make a great place to live above all else. Golf fans will be delighted to visit the Bayonne golf course which is an 18-hole regulation golf course suited for all skill levels.

Families can take a nice day trip to the Bayonne museum.
