Auburn is the best city I've lived in 4.5 rating By Anonymous ( Dec 15, 2018) Auburn has the best schools, best run city government, plus it feels new, young, and vibrant. I grew up in the Midwest, lived in Georgia, North Carolina, Kansas, and New York. Auburn beats them all for quality of life. Being a college town there are people from all over the US ...Read More here. If you love golf we have lots of nice courses. My wife loves to shop at the mall and Tiger Town. Atlanta Hartsfield airport is straight up I85 and you will be there in an hour and a half. I have no idea why this website rates employment so low as we have more jobs than we have people. Cost of Living and Housing may be higher than the Alabama average but that's not saying much in such a poor state. Auburn is like an island. Crime is very low here, violent crime is almost non-existent. If you search Auburn you will find well published reviews that rank Auburn and Opelika very high for business development, retirement, etc. Read Less
I'd give it 0 stars if I could 0.5 rating By nah ( Dec 28, 2016) I've lived all over the United States, and Auburn is by far the strangest and most backwards town I've ever lived in. The people here are only polite if you go out of your way to fit in to the local trends and cultures, and if you don't have a noticeable southern accent then expe ...Read More ct weird looks and exclusion to be a part of your daily life. There's very much a "you ain't from around you, are ya?" vibe from the residents if you don't change the way you dress, talk, and act to fit into the mold here. You're even expected to only drive a certain class of vehicles (trucks, SUVs and jeeps only). It's an incredibly odd place, and there's a complete lack of culture or any sort of entertainment outside of the school. A terrible place to live even if you're a full-time student, and if you're not then it's simply unbearable. Steer clear. Read Less
I Love Auburn! 4.5 rating By Anonymous ( Mar 10, 2015) I live in Auburn, Alabama and I love it. I moved here after college, because my boyfriend got into the Forestry and Wildlife grad program at Auburn University. I can't talk about his experience much, but I know that he loves the school and so do I. I'm not a huge football fan, or ...Read More at least I wasn't before we moved here, but seeing how much fun people have at the games, it was hard not to get swept up in it and we've started spending our Saturdays cheering on the Tigers.

There's plenty to love about Auburn, AL the rest of the year too. My favorite thing about Auburn is the weather, and the nature. It can get hot in the summer, but there are plenty of ways to cool off. We love to drink sweet tea and lemonade, maybe a little too much. We also tend to travel a little more in the summer both to beat the heat and because there is less to do. The best part about the weather in Auburn is that we never have to shovel snow, and I never have to wear a heavy winter coat anymore. One of our favorite things to do is to spend time on the weekends hiking and exploring nature. Chewacla State Park is a short drive away and has become a favorite place for us to spend our weekends.

We are happy living here, in part because of the low cost of living, and because of how easy it is to find something to do at anytime of the year. Our apartment is relatively inexpensive compared to some of the other places we have lived in the past, and recently we have decided to stay and start a family, especially after we learned how great the local school system is.
