Bland, boring, cliquish and no culture User Rating 1 rating By Anonymous ( Dec 06, 2019) I moved here a little under two years ago for personal reasons and for my child to have a decent school to go to. I have found the people very unwelcoming and cliquish, no culture or nightlife, shopping is Wal-Mart or extremely overpriced boutique(s) in the "downtown" area. Ever ...Read More y time I patronize and establishment here I get a vibe from people that is very off-putting. Small town mentality is definitely alive and well here.

The main issue I have is job opportunities. A previous poster mentioned driving well over an hour to either Cleveland or Columbus for work. It is OVER an hour to those places and if you happen to get an interview it could be farther than that. No way could I do that every day. If you are looking for work in either Wooster/ Mansfield, opportunities are scarce and it is the same vibe/ mentality in those places as well. There are Amish here, who travel in their buggies on a main thoroughfares. When I see them on 42, they are sometimes hard to see because the buggies and horses are so dark. It angers me that they put themselves and those animals at risk with no lights on their buggies so people can see them. I feel like I am in the twilight zone living here, truly backwards place and people. I cannot wait to leave when my lease is up. Truly horrible experience living here.

Moreover, the school was very unwelcoming to my child; I suppose because we were not a traditional family and had a personal issue that brought us here. One of the teachers who sent kids texts during the summer sent my child a very nice one initially, then quickly retracted it saying he texted the wrong person. He then went on to send my child a text that read "what I meant to send you is that I can't believe you even made it to school every day." I was astounded at the hateful, judgmental rudeness, but it was indicative of what type of community I was in. A backwards, cliquish place that is unwelcoming of "outsiders" not just like them.

faiths get along very well and work together in the county.A recent prayer service shows how well they work together: a prayer service at a college run by the bretheren church was sponsored by the bretheren youth group, the catholic college group, the
lutheran church and the catholic church-celebrants from all groups and the main celebrant the catholic bishop-it was packed.
