I recently moved to the Anaheim Hills, CA area. I came from a small town back east and wasn't sure what to expect. It was a transfer that brought us here, a company cut back on the coast made opportunities here more lucrative. My family wasn't sure where to look for housing. Afte ...Read More
r a couple visits and talking to the locals, we found that Peralta Hills, Anaheim Hills Estates and Copa De Oro were the most affluent areas in town. Being a family of middle class, those houses weren't in our budget.
We settled for a nice home in the Sunset Ridge area. There are many condominiums around here, in fact there are so many to choose from its unreal. Townhouses are also big here, and there are ample apartments. We wanted a single family home and had no problem finding it in the Sunset Ridge complex. There are more than 337,000 people that call this area home, so the housing market tends to move fast. Because of Anaheim's close proximity to LA, the prices of homes are inflated way beyond what they should be.
The crime in the area is a bit more than what I anticipated. Though we lived what I felt was a safe community, we would have things stolen off our back porch etc. I guess that can happen anywhere. While it doesn't have the crime rate of LA, it is certainly different than the small rural town I came from. The whole city is bustling with energy and the traffic can be a bit much to handle. However, once you learn the major thoroughfares maneuvering around the city is not difficult.
Those who like to get out and enjoy the sunshine will love the ample parks in the area. First, for those who like amusement, the Disneyland Theme parks call this area home. When it comes to greenery and nature, the Yorba Regional Park is known for its rolling hills and quiet, clean landscapes. Also, the Ramon Peralta Adobe Historic Site is a neat place to visit and spend the day.
Shopping is never a problem around here. There is a strip mall on every corner. While there is plenty of Walmart's, there are other stores that offer great savings too. Plenty of ma and pap shops in some sections of town, and other areas offer the large chains stores we all love. Overall, it is a great place to live. While it may take some getting used to when moving from a smaller area, the close proximity to amazing nightlife and decadent cuisine make this place a great area to live in.
