I know this is uncommon, but living in Amsterdam wasn't my cup of tea. To be fair I am an older individual and cannot do alot of the things I could 20 years ago. As a past member of Amsterdam Municipal Golf Course over by Chapel Place, I've had my times. Very enjoyable people and places of interest are as follows.
If you happen to be along West Main near Steward Street, keep going Eastward and you will find the Mohawk Valley Overlook. Very beautiful first thing in the morning, in relation to the natural flow of the river I would say awe inspiring. A night out at Tumans's Restaurant is like you are right at home.
I would have to say there is plenty for the younger folks to do, as well as the middle age. Always a new diner or coffee shop opening up and they all stay pretty busy. I used to enjoy shopping along highway 30 past Northhampton. All in all if you are young and enjoy plenty to do, Amsterdam is the place for you!
