During the school year, the area can be busy and crowded. Local bars cater to the college crowds and traffic can get a bit hairy downtown. Fortunately, most everything is within comfortable walking distance so you can walk to wherever you might want to go. Because there is something for everything here, from art to local foods, the best areas in Amherst Center really depend on what you want to do or see.
During the summertime Amherst Center offers a ton of things for residents to do. I particularly enjoy going to the annual “Taste of Amherst,” which is hosted on the common, and going to the weekly Farmers Market.
