The parkï¿½s centerpiece is a fountain with a rotating bronze sculpture of Charles, a native of the city. As he sits and sings at a baby grand piano, music plays from speakers and water flows from the top of the fountain into a reflecting pool at the base. Ray Charles Plaza sits along the Flint River in downtown Albany and is easy to find. The park is bounded by Front Street, Broad Avenue, and Oglethorpe Boulevard, and sits directly across from the Hilton Garden Inn.

The whole land is over 700 acres that features a wild animal part that is dedicated to educating people about the various animals in the park. Chehaw is also accredited as a zoo in Georgia. Also onsite there is a campgrounds that has 44 sites for RVs and there are also 18 tent sites. At every site there is a picnic table as well as a fire ring that has a grill. Fishing is also free in the park and is part of the admission to the park.
