Located just 20 minutes from Lawrence and 30 minutes from Kansas City, Ottawa offers a myriad of job opportunities in a vast array of fields from higher education, telecommunications, agriculture, and ...Read More more. I love living in Ottawa because of its many choices of higher education choices, from Ottawa University, Baker University, and the nearby University of Kansas. Because of this younger demographic, the area boasts an eclectic mix of dining and shopping options, sure to please any personal taste.

The best area in Ottawa is Forest Park. As the community's most popular gathering place, Forest Park boasts plentiful athletic courts, a municipal swimming pool, four playgrounds, picnic shelters, and more. The park is home to many of the town's festivals and celebrations, including Chautauqua Days, marking the 4th of July. The Carnegie Cultural Center is housed at City Park and features a gazebo popular with summer concerts and weddings. Read Less
