We are currently moving from North Platte to the eastern side of the state. In the 11 years I've lived in North Platte, I have never felt part of the community, or felt that the town itself cares for my well being or my interests. I have seen many businesses come and go, while th ...Read More
e top 3 people who own the majority of land in and around town, decide what businesses may pay them an obscene amount of money for the pleasure of placing their business in North Platte.
The town gives no thought to history, most likely because the history of "Little Chigaco" is widely spread with prostitution, gambling, and murder.
Taxes have recently gone up to match the east end of the state (might as well stay there), and the "mall" has 3 shops open. Walmart is the only place to go for anything out of the grocery area that's affordable.
Renting is a nightmare, the housing market isn't much better. For as small as north platte is, you will experience too many homeless people, crime, and discover the near negative amount of things to do, especially at night.
You could head to one of the less, methy bars, but beware.
I will NEVER move back to north platte, the economy is stagnant to the point of tanking, the job market is abysmal. Of course unless you're in healthcare or want to work for UP (Union Pacific Railroad), you have a plethora of minimum wage jobs to choose from.
If you do get a degree from the local community college, MOVE. Your chance to use it in North Platte is not going to happen.
If they bombed North Platte, I would not shed a tear, but would wear a gas mask from the meth fumes.

I really like living here in North Platte because I know where everything is. I mean seriously, I've lived in some of the largest cities in the world and a few of the smallest. I've gotten lost more times than I can count, and moving here has changed that. The layout is manageabl ...Read More

With a plethora of parks to choose from, you can take your date out or just yourself and enjoy what they have to offer. I know the North Platte Regional Airport stays very busy during the summer months and that is for good reason I suppose. I know that you would enjoy a weekend here to get a feel for the town.
Taking a trip over to Love's Travel Stop, or coming back west to the Spike Tower, you will be amazed bout how quaint and manageable living is right here in North Platte. Give it a chance and it will grow on you, I promise.
