Standard little town 4 rating By Anonymous ( Sep 11, 2018) Being a little city just outside of a major metropolis means that you don't have to offer much other than your standard shopping center, fast food chains and thats about it. Bowie does this but luckily it has a bit more. Nice dog park, nice minor league baseball team and Six Fl ...Read More ags just down the road. Bowie is close enough to anything you'd need. Even a beach at Sandy Point Park is only a 20 min drive. However, it's below average when it comes to Nitelife, unique dinning and general shopping. There's a Target, a Walmart, a Home Depot, a Lowes and a couple different grocery stores. Bowie is also more than just one location and at the few locations that call themselves Bowie, they all have the same thing. Gas, minor shopping a CVS yada yada yada. Bowie proper is the one that has the ball park, the dog park, the Target/Walmar the Lowes/Home Depot. There's even a Harley Davidson store nearby. But thats really it. Your standard fast food chains are in Bowie proper and if you're good with all this, then Bowie would be a nice place to live. It's quite, it's outside the city (although theres still too much traffic everywhere you go) and it's easy to get to the city or even just into the closest metro stop (Greenbelt). All in all, Bowie isn't going to wow you, and you'll probably find yourself going to Laurel or Croften more and more because those two small towns have better shopping and dinning options. Read Less
If you're looking for quiet, & safe...Then you've found it in Bowie 5 rating By NYC Born ( Feb 19, 2016) Ok...I'm a lifelong NYC resident. I just retired January 1st 2016, as a NYPD Police Officer after 22 years, (my wife also as a Detective for 23 years). The reason I'm starting out with this, is because the safety & security of the neighborhood was "our" primary concern when we sta ...Read More rted looking for our new home, and I'm pleased to say that we've found that here in Bowie!!!Now don't fool yourself into thinking that you're gonna move into a totally crime free neighborhood, where you can leave your windows & doors unlocked and open, because that's just not gonna happen, no matter where you move, but here in Bowie, you're gonna be pretty safe. It's a mixed city, (meaning a little bit of everyone), but there's no hanging out on the street corners, there's no people walking around with their pants sagging below their underwear. And there's a strong police presence, (now its not the gestapo), but they're out here patrolling vigilantly. And there's a camera system in place at all the intersections, and plate readers/camera system throughout all of the different neighborhoods, which is a nightmare for burglars & thieves, but a win for the residents!!!There are very few "attractions" nearby, with the exception of Great Adventures in Upper Marlboro, (and surprisingly that has very little effect on traffic in the area which is a good thing), and while I'm on the subject of traffic, rush hour traffic is "very congested", and a lot drivers out here, (men & women alike), seem to be in an awful big hurry all the time!!!The accidents I've seen so far, speed & impatience seem to be the contributing factor. There are "PLENTY" of nearby malls & shopping centers within driving distance, with every single store and food variety you can think of. Mostly everything out here closes around 11pm, but there are several fast food places and gas stations that stay open way past that hour.If you're looking for a safe, clean, modern, family oriented city, then Bowie is the place for you!!!(if you want the fastlane life, go to NYC).Thanks for listening!!! What's In Bowie MD? 4.5 rating By Anonymous ( May 24, 2012) While I do not live in Bowie MD, I live very close and I know of the many attractions and sites in Bowie and I'd give the city of Bowie a 9 out of 10 when it comes to fun, attractions and activities. Bowie has everything from spacious, wild, parks to historic towns that are littl ...Read More e known secrets and so much fun to discover. Bowie is rich with museums including the Belair Stable Museum, The Bowie Railroad and Huntington Museum and the Radio and Television Museum. So it's never hard to find something interesting to see.

Bowie is also shrouded in trees and natural beauty. While Bowie is closely connected to Greenbelt and the more urban areas near College Park, MD, Bowie has a lot of wooded area to offer and many of the homes in the area have a very woodsy and natural feel; as if you're miles away from civilization. One moment you're on a main drag with shops and food, the next you're in the wilderness passing quaint homes, wild deer and nature. It's quite a dramatic change in scenery but it only adds to the fun and unique nature of Bowie, MD.

If you drive long enough, you'll come across the cutest little town that looks like something from the early 20th century. It's less than a mile of square land and it's filled with little mom and pop shops, nature stores and nurseries. The town itself is a little difficult to find, but I personally was amazed when I stumbled across it after driving through Bowie. Bowie also has a large farmer's market to offer with a variety of down home foods including pastries, fruits and fresh vegetables. It's the perfect place to get some good food shopping done on a sunny Saturday afternoon. So if you're looking for diverse scenery, interesting museums, rich culture, a pleasant drive, small town charm and just a good old fashioned fun time, you have to come to Bowie, MD.
