Bland highway hell User Rating 2.5 rating By Anonymous ( May 15, 2020) We've lived here for going on two years now, and it's just boring here. It's just a lot of highways, strip malls, and soulless cookie cutter apartment complexes. Public transit is difficult to access, and you have to drive to get anywhere (if you don't take the bus). Nothing is w ...Read More alkable here. There's nothing to do here, it's a sleeper community for people who commute into DC to work. White Oak For All Your Medical Needs User Rating 2 rating By Anonymous ( May 14, 2018) This area of Maryland has a good mix of apartments and single family homes for singles and families. The overall cost of living is a bit high but the area has some nice homes to choose from. The older established neighborhoods are among the best and safest areas to live, if you c ...Read More an afford it. The community is pretty diverse as well. The area schools are not among the best in the state.

The area was once a sleepy community, but has experienced an upsurge in criminal activity. Although the crime isn't significant, it's something to consider when choosing a neighborhood. The community is currently experiencing a growth spurt with a huge mixed development and a new hospital. These projects should be finished in the near future and will bring new jobs and housing to the area.

There are some small businesses for shopping and work in the community. The biggest employer in the area is the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. White Oak is considered to be "out in the boonies" by some people, but there are major roads and highways to connect you to neighboring towns and cities with more amenities. Read Less
