The area resembles a somewhat crowded suburbia with a refreshing ocean view. West Islip is an upscale community located on the shore of Long Island. The cost of living there tends to be a bit hi ...Read More gher. However, housing developments, employment conditions, and crime rates are exceptionally positive for the quaint district. Driving over to Manhattan was a family highlight. Normally on a good day, the trip takes less than an hour.

West Islip is great for all size families, as it offers 9 public schools with great academic programs. While residing in West Islip, my husband and I frequented The Adventure Park at Long Island. The area has numerous challenging outdoor obstacles and walking trails. Other favorite spots and best areas in West Islip New York would be the Bartini Bar, a laid-back music venue in Babylon. Argyle Park, another hotspot, is located on the water and has historic scenic landscaping. This area would be an awesome backdrop for a classic New York wedding. Read Less
