West Haven was a great place to live and I enjoyed the years I spent there. Quaint and on the small side, West Haven offers a slower pace than some of the larger surrounding areas. The shoreline is beautiful and a great place to spot rare shorebirds especially at the Sandy Point ...Read More
estuary. You can sometimes catch a glimpse of Sammy the harp seal when you are visiting this part of the shoreline.
When I lived in West Haven I loved the mix of nature, history and the arts. My favorite outings ranged from Long Wharf theater for live plays to the Peabody Museum of Natural History to the beautiful and magnificent West Rock Ridge State Park. Another favorite spot was the historic Bradly Point Park with great views of Long Island Sound. Wonderful for picnics and relaxing afternoons spent with family and friends and only minutes from the historic downtown business district.
West Haven isn't overly abundant with employment opportunities and the pay scale isn't at the high end but then, neither is the cost of living. Very economical and an overall lovely community to work, live, and raise a family. When I moved from West Haven I really missed some of the great locally owned restaurants like Georgie's Diner and Lorenzo's and there was almost always some great local bands playing in the downtown area. West Haven is also home to the University of New Haven so it's a great town for college students or for anyone wanting to further their education.
