They don't call it "Watertucky" for nothing. User Rating 0.5 rating By alrising ( Feb 04, 2012) Thanks to the old codgers running this city for the last 100 years, who have done little to attract businesses--even discouraging large corporations for headquartering here--there is little to attraction for even the moderately educated person. Watertown is 10 miles from I-94, ma ...Read More king commute time to Downtown Madison or Milwaukee (the cities with the most jobs) a one-hour. So basically, if you want to do anything culturally exciting, you will be driving AT LEAST 30 minutes to get to the nearest city that does offer more. Restaurants consist mostly of franchises and fast food, and the few private establishments consist of pizza parlors, Mexican, and ...well, nothing else. Shopping choices are: Walmart, Farm & Fleet, Kohls Dept. Store (in Johnson Creek), The Outlet Mall (again, in Johnson Creek) and a few boutiques. There is a large population of Mexicans and retirees, and the majority of inhabitants are blue-collar workers. Taxes, compared to neighboring cities that are considered more upscale like Oconomowoc and Delafield, are the same, so I'm not sure why Watertown believes it can tax homeowners at the same rate as those cities--cities with WAY more to offer. If you are looking to move to this area, please compare and consider living in Johnson Creek (which is right on I-94), Oconomowoc or Delafield. I sure wish somebody would have told me these things before I moved here.

P.S. If you do move here, get used to Buicks driving 8 miles/hour cutting you off and slowing you down. Read Less
