City Benefits with Small Town Community 5 rating By Anonymous ( Feb 11, 2022) Lived at Lake Shore and Mimico for 29 years.
1. Great and Friendly Community
2. Great Parks
3. Awesome Community Projects/Events
4. Community geared for walking and biking (ie: multiple groceries stores are all within 5min walk)
This area is great especially by the lake. I grew ...Read More up here but came back after university to see that even though lots of development had taken place the community still continues to keep its warmth and charm. The people are amazing. Everyone is so welcoming and always looking to pay it forward with kindness. There are always community drives and everyone is always supporting small businesses and this isn't only limited to the Farmer's Market. Everyone's so kind to each other. I remember when hoverboards first came out I saw someone using one and they noticed so offered to let me try it. Where else in the city would someone would offer to let you try their new gadget and take off on it? And laugh with your joy while trusting you'll return? The only downside was that when I left I learned that people aren't as friendly and that it's not customary to greet people and wish people a good day. I'm glad I'm back and can enjoy the water views and parks (especially the outdoor butterfly park with flowers planted to attract butterflies while they migrate), the lovely community, great food, and the free concerts/events put on by the community members. If you're ever visiting or thinking about the area please say hi! We'd all love to great ya! Read Less

2. Safety is a problem,
3. Develooment is a problem, our landlord wants to build a 25 story condominium building in the parking lot, but the buildings are in lousy shape.
4. The schools are overcrowded with huge class sizes.
5. There is public t ...Read More ransportation but it is often unreliable.
6. A lot of people have dogs, and just do not clean up so it is difficult to enjoy the parks. Read Less
