More than A Standard Community - Woodlands, TX has it All 4 rating By Anonymous ( Jan 30, 2012) I lived in The Woodlands, TX briefly when I was relocated to the greater Houston area and was seeking a community that had everything in one location. Though this is a master planned community, the feeling you get living in The Woodlands is along the lines of living at a resort. ...Read More The community itself has a good mix of locals and transplants, like myself, which makes for an interesting mix of residents.

The Woodlands, all within the confines of the complex, has school ranging from preschools to traditional schools, and is also home to the Academy for Lifelong Learning which is a continuing education program for seniors. The fact even the Lone Star College has a location on site for both undergraduate and graduate degree programs adds to the cultural commitment of the area.

The Village center is the hot spot for finding small restaurants, grocery stores and other retailers who call this place home as well. The ample walking trails, biking paths and even the neighborhood park make this a place you can feel comfortable living and raising a family. Though not much exists in the way of fine dining and nightlife, the fact that Houston is mere miles away makes this truly a relaxing place to live. You can enjoy the relaxation of your home, and then hop down the highway one or two exits and be right in the heart of the big city when you feel the need. Read Less

      The Woodlands, TX

The Woodlands, Texas is considered a master planned community. Made up of about 100,000 residents, it is a small and welcoming place in which to live. With a humid subtropical climate, and average winter temperatures nearing 70 degrees, it is no wonder why so many call this place home. Most of The Woodlands is located in Montgomery County, and the community is only 28 miles north of the bustling metropolis of Houston. It costs more than the state and national average to live, buy and rent in The Woodlands (many homes are luxury properties), so get saving if you would like to live there. Nevertheless, it is a beautiful and safe area in which to live.

The primary methods of transportation in The Woodlands are car and bike, but there are bus and trolley services as well. Use The Woodlands Express Park and Ride Service or The Woodlands Town Center Trolleys to commute or get around. The fare price is reasonable, so this could be a cost-effective way to travel.

The Woodlands is both a shopper’s and an outdoor lover’s paradise. Browse the luxury shops and small boutiques on Market Street, which looks like part of a small town. Eat at a high-end restaurant and relax and people watch on the plaza. If indoor shopping is more your style, The Woodlands Mall features elevated chain restaurants, plus department and specialty stores. Shop till you drop! When you want to get outside, the Woodlands Hike and Bike Trails offer 160 miles of safe, urban trails, while The Woodlands Waterway offers scenic walking paths and boat tours.

Houston is close enough for regular visits, too. Space buffs will love going to the Space Center Houston, which gives a detailed look into the U.S. Space Program, as well as the Johnson Space Center. The Houston Museum of Natural Science and the Houston Zoo entertain animal enthusiasts, while the Downtown is an art maker’s dream, thanks to the Theater District. Kids will love the Children’s Museum of Houston and the Health Museum, which features exhibits that look straight out of the Magic School Bus. When the sun goes down, the Historic District has no shortage of 19th century architecture and places to indulge in a meal, both fancy and otherwise. After all, Texas is known for its barbecue and chicken fried steak!

If you want to live in a peaceful, luxury community in the Lone Star State, consider The Woodlands. People know their neighbors, and are genuinely excited to invite them to parties and support them in their endeavors. Get all of this, plus easy access to Houston.
