Stratford is named after Stratford-upon-Avon in England, as its first settlers were of European decent, and much of its architecture resembles the architecture that you would see in England. The city is also not much different than its namesake in terms of culture, hosting the annual Stratford Shakespeare Festival and being a major centre for tourism. Getting around in Stratford is quite easy. The city is well served by the Stratford Transit, which offers services six days a week. Having been an old railway junction, the city is also well connected to different parts of the country by train. A VIA train station is conveniently just outside downtown Stratford.
