Id like to qualify what i say, with the following. I was brought to this roach ridden bumpkin hole against my will. With that disclaimer established, Id continue to give the strong points of saint augustine. Its fairly quiet. The mostly older demographic has made this a very old ...Read More
town by rule of average, and its social activity reflects. there is NO night life. Stores, grocers, bars, even the DRIVETHROUGHS close at around 8pm-10pm. Oh you work overnight? Too damn bad, past 10 theres ecactly 5 places open: Walmart, SOME gas stations, a taco bell, and 2 pizza delivery places. More critical than the disparity of commerce, is the crumbling infrastructure. the roads are notoriously bad, the potholes are endemic, and the city does f*ckall to fix it. Next in line is the crime. Theres an abundance of car-robberies, no working cameras, and the police only patol like 3 days a week, but they all do it ALL AT ONCE so the roads FREEZE UP and people get in accidents. Remember all those old folks i mentioned? yeah they RUIN transit; the traffic is unbelievably awful, all the time, the traffic lights arent timed for rush hours. And worst of all, there are real, actual skinhead, card carrying nazis and KKK in this town. The 4 years of trump were a nightmare because these morons felt emboldened to wave their flag, shout their slurs and march in the damn street like the deplorable scum they are. Im estatic i get to move from this overpriced, undermaintained, overhyped, underwhelming snore of a boomer-ridden backwash town. The only thing i can genuinely reccomend to anyone planning to move here, is plan your suicide in advance, because you'll quickly realize its preferable to staying here. Oh and forewarning? Rent is inflated to hell because its a "tourist" town. People from up north think the 'historic' downtown is fun for a whole 15 minutes in summer and they've absolutely ruined the housing market. If you HAVE to live in central florida, go with Jacksonville, unless you like living in a delapitated 2nd hand singlewide for the price of a 3bed3bath in the city
