Spearfish, SD is Not A Good Place to Live 2.5 rating By Anonymous ( May 28, 2018) After living in Spearfish, South Dakota for 9 years now I would love to be able to say that this is one of the best areas in the state to live. That's just not so. I cannot in good conscience give this place any sort of a glowing review considering the astronomical crime rate, th ...Read More e people who just don't care about their neighborhoods or community anymore, the schools who are performing in a shameful manner, the sad job market and housing market, etc. I'm very sorry to say there's just nothing to recommend this place has a decent place to live.

There are a few things to do here for fun and entertainment, but even those reflect the depressing state of this place. There's the Spearfish Rec & Aquatic Center, the High Plains Western Heritage Center, Termesphere Gallery art gallery, and the closest we will ever get to a claim to fame: the annual Sturgis bike rally which takes place nearby. There really is just nothing redeeming about Spearfish, I certainly hope that changes in the near future. Read Less
