ace to live. With one of the more "elite" zip codes in the Kansas City area, Shawnee is a quiet and safe community. The cost of living in Shawnee is a lot cheaper than the national average. Traffic can be annoying at times, but for such a great community, it's a minor inconvenience.
Located in the heart of Shawnee, Shawnee Mission Park is a 1,200 acre park that is home to a lake, nature trails, Dog Park, beach, and an outdoor theater. "The Theater in the Park" offers Broadway-style shows at an affordable price. It's a great place take friends and family! If you want to know what life was like in Shawnee in the 1920's, visit Shawnee Town. It's a fun place to spend an afternoon and you will really appreciate our everyday conveniences after you leave!
Finding great restaurants is a cinch in Shawnee. Old Shawnee Pizza is one of the best places to eat pizza in the entire Kansas City area. Fronteras, has some of the best margaritas and authentic Mexican food around.
With its close proximity to other Kansas City suburbs, you can find a lot to do within a few miles. Overland Park, the shopping hub of Johnson County, is less than 5 miles away. Chances are you won't realize you've driven out of Shawnee and into Overland Park! The towns meld together nicely. Oak Park Mall, one of Kansas City's finest shopping malls, is located just south of Shawnee. You will find national retailers as well as specialty boutiques, in addition to great restaurants. Kansas Speedway, Cabela's, Nebraska Furniture Mart, and the Legends Outlet Mall are located just 15 minutes away.
