Round Lake Beach: A Decent Suburb 3 rating By Anonymous ( May 16, 2018) Round Lake Beach is one of Chicago's farther northwest suburbs. It has a sizable diverse population and is one of several communities surrounding Round Lake. It is close to Gurnee which has more shopping and restaurant options and of course is about an hour drive to Chicago where ...Read More naturally the feel is more fun. Round Lake Beach is entirely average in most ways. The public school system is mediocre at best. There are several elementary and middle schools in the city that all get transferred to one big high school so the student to teacher ratio skyrockets while the quality of education decreases.

The crime in Round Lake Beach is relatively controlled right now, but anyone who lives here will confirm that the crime from the Waukegan area and other parts of Chicago is starting to creep its way into Round Lake Beach.

Overall, this isn't one of the best suburbs the Chicago area has to offer. But if you're looking for something affordable where at least most neighborhoods and subdivisions are well maintained, then this may be a decent option for you. Read Less
