Rockville Centre--An Exciting Suburban Neighborhood 5 rating By Anonymous ( May 10, 2018) I have been living in Rockville Centre my whole life, and I think that this is a very good place to live. It is a suburb of New York City, though the city is very close and accessible. Many different buses run through Rockville Centre. The neighborhood provides major transfer poi ...Read More nts for buses going in different directions. One bus, the N4, goes west into Queens. Another bus, the 15, goes south to Long Beach and north to the Roosevelt Field mall. The n15 also goes to Hempstead Transit Center, which is a major hub for buses going all over the island. There is also the Long Island Railroad.

As a transit hub, some people might think that Rockville Centre is some sort of dirty, trashy downtown place. As a matter of fact, it is a very safe, beautiful, clean neighborhood. There is a large bar district that gets very busy. There are a lot of Irish pubs, and there is a relatively large Irish feel and presence to a point where they actually have a St. Patrick's day parade every year. The place is somewhat ethnically and racially mixed and inclusive of all people. There are also many great restaurants that are not Irish pubs. Read Less
