Pleasant and best option in Coastal Bend User Rating 4 rating By Anonymous ( Oct 31, 2025) Out of all the parts of the Coastal Bend, if you have kids, this is the place to live. It might be less pretty or affluent than other parts, but they do a lot of things well here. The city is well run. The schools are good. We Love Living in Portland, TX! User Rating 4.5 rating By Anonymous ( May 16, 2018) Portland, Texas is a wonderful place to live. I have been living in Portland since 1983 when I got married. We have really great schools here, enough jobs to go around, beautiful natural scenery even in the more populated areas, nice homes, and great neighbors! The weather here is awesome and there are some really fun things to do since we're only a short drive away from Corpus Christi.

I enjoy visiting Bubbles N Brushes, an art studio that offers wine-tasting as you create! We also have the USS Lexington Museum, filled with interesting artifacts and historical objects, and the Dolphin Connection, where there is a museum devoted to learning all about these beautiful creatures as well as a gift shop. Living here is a wonderful experience. Read Less
