Port Orange is Failing. User Rating 2 rating By Anonymous ( Oct 09, 2025) Port Orange isn't a good place to live anymore. Traffic is horrible. There's very few good paying jobs & way too many apartments. There's nothing for entertainment other than eat at average chain restaurants. Small business will fail in Port Orange, to be successful, you're bette ...Read More r off to go to New Smyrna or Deland, where they support small businesses. Lots of loud NY transplants moved here in 2020 ruining quiet neighborhoods. They are always on and turned up to 11. P.O. is not walkable, a car is a must. Police actually set up speed traps in neighborhoods now! Crime is up in Port Orange, (they don't like to talk about it at city meetings, but numbers don't lie). One of the people on the city board got caught on a traffic camera hitting a vehicle then switched seats while under the influence & was arrested! It's on YouTube! He didn't resign & wasn't asked to by the other board members. Tells you all you need to know about who's running the city. Flooding is a major issue, & with more apartment buildings going up, & other large buildings, it's only going to get worse. Ring cameras catch coyotes & other dangerous wildlife walking neighborhood streets nightly. The county now charges you to park if you go to the beach. Port Orange was an amazing place not too long ago. People were friendly & courteous. Now there is so much bad attitude & anger here. People yelling at elderly people in parking lots over how they parked. I could never recommend Port Orange to anyone any longer. We wanted to retire here, but our house is for sale & we're leaving & never turning back. Read Less
Glad Im here User Rating 4.5 rating By Anonymous ( Oct 09, 2021) I moved to Port Orange Florida in April of 2021 after doing extensive research on good areas to live. There are no homeless, pollution and crime. It is conveniently located near Daytona Beach with lots of great restaurants and entertainment. People are very friendly, even strange ...Read More rs are courteous. It must be the southern culture. People respect and help each other. I have never felt so safe living anywhere. The weather is great but gets a little warm June through September. The beaches are clean and almost vacant if you go during the week. You are not too far from Orland with Disney world as well as other attractions. Im at the beach in 15 minutes right down Dunlawton Ave. This has got to be the best move I have ever made in my life. I am retired and loving it. Thanks to area vibes to help me find my destination. Read Less
Neighbors vs area User Rating 2 rating By Rlmcginn88 ( Feb 23, 2017) The area of housing has older ans gebeeally quiet homes but the neighbors, in apartment complexes here, are what make it unbearable. Check out your neighbors before moving anywhere near! ...Read More Read Less
Simplicity in a Small Town User Rating 4 rating By Anonymous ( Mar 10, 2015) As someone who has lived in the Port Orange, FL area for over 20 years, I have seen that city grow from a small town to a bustling area of people and attractions. Since I have lived in the same home while I've been in the city, I don't know a lot about the other homes, but those ...Read More that are in the outskirts of the main town are older and charming. I have noticed that there has been a spike in apartment complexes in the city. There have also been more small businesses added.

When I travel to the downtown area, I often see people walking along the sidewalks, searching for the elusive place to get a good meal or a shopping center that has the high-end products. Many of the stores are owned by local business workers who make crafts or sell items unique to the area. There are larger chains, but I try to avoid those stores because they are usually crowded. I like the restaurants in the area. Many of them serve fresh foods, like salads made of fruit from the area and a lot of chicken with pasta. Finding a nightclub is almost out of the question as this isn't a town where people like to hang out in clubs. There are quite a few golf courses, and I have noticed that there are a few more elderly people who live here than there are younger people, which is why I am trying to find somewhere else to move. One of the benefits of living here is that Daytona Beach is only a short distance away, so I can go lay on the warm sand of one of the most popular beaches on the east coast whenever I want.
