Small country town User Rating 3 rating By Anonymous ( Aug 14, 2018) Unless you know folks in the area, there’s not much to do. Places to eat, (not many): Wings Etc, Brass Rail (bar), Applebee’s(next to super Walmart). Most commonly visited: Yogi Bear camp grounds and the Blueberry festival that occurs at end of summer every year. ...Read More Read Less
Plymouth, Indiana: Small town friendliness and welcoming smiles User Rating 4 rating By Anonymous ( May 23, 2018) Plymouth, Indiana is a great place to raise a family. All of our neighbors are willing to lend a helping hand and are always planning cook outs and neighborhood gatherings where we just catch up with one another and let our kids play and have fun. I grew up in Elkhart and my husb ...Read More and’s job moved us here over 5 years ago and we love it. There are plenty of parks and play areas for the kids. There are also enough markets and stores to provide you with pretty much anything you need as far as basics.

A great place to visit to learn more about local history would be the Marshall County Museum in downtown Plymouth on N. Michigan St. It even features a play room and train for the kiddies. For food and entertainment, Plymouth is a little bit more limited than the larger cities, as you would probably expect—but it does offer great restaurants, like Opie’s and Christo’s, two of my family’s faves and VIP Lounge is really the only establishment you can call a ‘night spot’ but it’s a nice place to hang out and have a drink and listen to music. Showland Theatre is also a local option for movie-going; as well as another local favorite, Tri-Way Drive In, which is one of the few still existing old-fashioned drive-in movie theatres where the entire family can watch new movies in your car or truck.

The community is extremely safe for families with children and there are great schools in the area. The housing market is really affordable and you can definitely find really nice houses for a fraction of the cost of more expensive areas in the state. Plymouth is small enough that everyone still has that friendly, welcoming mindset and yet, it’s not so small that you feel suffocated or bored out of your mind. There are plenty parks and trails in the area—like the Greenway Trail; as well as trips organized by the local parks & recreation to the many nearby casinos if you want to escape from the local area for a day or night trip of gambling and fun.
