Great place to live! User Rating 4 rating By Anonymous ( Mar 17, 2020) We have lived in Pl. Prairie for over 20 years and we love it here! It is situated between Chicago and Milwaukee. Because of location, it was hard to rate the amenities. Public transportation for those in Pleasant Prairie is non-existent, but if you have transportation, it's a ...Read More great place to live. It is not within walking distance to Kenosha, the nearest city... unless you enjoy walking long distance! Almost all nearby amenties are found in Kenosha. In Kenosha, and part of Pleasant Prairie, are found a very nice movie theater, several good eating places, ample shopping (the Pleasant Prairie Outlets are fantastic!), good hospitals and medical facilities, and minimal senior housing. Pleasant Prairie has been a very safe place to live as long as I have been here. The winters CAN be cold, but lately they have been relatively mild. It is about a 30 minute drive to Milwaukee and an hour's drive to Chicago. Our children had attended private school, so I cannot comment on the public school system. Summers are quite hot and humid, but a trip to Lake Michigan helps to bring down the temp by about 8 degrees or so. Kenosha hosts several festivals in the summer, held at the Lakefront. There is a minor-league baseball team, Kingfish, and they provide inexpensive entertainment over the summer months as well. Every place I have lived, (and there have been plenty after we spent 20 years in the Armed Services) there are pros and cons... it depends on what you are looking for. Here in Pleasant Prairie, I would say most folks enjoy the quiet, safe, friendly atmosphere most. If you're looking for great night-life and city lights... well, you got the wrong place! Read Less
A village like no other! User Rating 3.5 rating By Anonymous ( May 16, 2018) Found in Kenosha County, the village is sandwiched between Chicago and Milwaukee. Living in Pleasant Prairie is fun as it acts as an escape from the hustle and bustle of major cities.
With a sparse population, the village has only four neighborhoods including Rani, Tobin, Dexter
...Read More ’s Corner and Carol Beach. The village provides several amenities including grocery stores, shopping areas, entertainment outlets, fitness areas, and several schools including higher learning institutions. The best areas in Pleasant Prairie are; several parks such as Prairie Springs Park, Carol Beach Park, Lake Michigan park among others. The RecPlex, found inside one of the parks, Prairie Springs Park to be precise, has a large swimming pool and a water park. It also acts as a fitness and well-being center. Community gatherings are held here.
I have lived here for quite some time and find the village suitable for both low-income earners and the well off. In terms of security, the place is excellent with almost zero alarming security reports. Read Less
