Decent suburb, overall safe and fun town for people in their 20's 3.5 rating By Renee the Great ( Feb 26, 2015) Like with every area theres a ghetto but 90% of Palatine is safe. The downtown has been newly redone with a fair amount of bars/shopping and places to eat all within walking distance. Though entertainment options are limited, most people who regulate P town are in their 20's an ...Read More d too drunk to realize it. It's close enough to the city and lots of public trans. so you can get to and from easily.
Also, for people who like to exersize outdoors, there is a forest preserve with a long bike/running path that goes through most of the town.
I think Palatine is good for all ages but the downtown is def. geared more towards college kids. Read Less
Palatine, IL - Who Would Have Known? 4 rating By Anonymous ( Aug 09, 2010) I discovered Palatine, Il on a stop over during a recent trip. Palatine is a village that makes you feel like your part of the community, with the wonderful curb appeal and beautiful parks. I extended my trip from a stay over to a day exploring. There are so many restaurants to choose from in Palatine with many different cuisines and atmospheres. I truly enjoyed sitting and enjoying the small town feel in the local café while enjoying the scenery. There are plenty of resale shops, which I thoroughly enjoyed browsing. There are some quaint bookstores and shops that are also fun to browse. The people of Palatine were very friendly and helpful and guided me from one thing to the next. There was such a diversity of things to do and see and I felt "at home" and never like a curious tourist. It would be a great place for a girl's weekend out, I felt safe and intrigued by the city, I will definitely return to Palatine. Read Less
