      Oakville is a thriving and vibrant community within the Greater Toronto Area. Situated on the Halton region of Lake Ontario. This picturesque town with its dense parklands harbours, lakeside homes and eclectic shopping district is considered one of the most romantic places in the country. Oakville has quite a young population with a high number of young professionals employed in the technology and pharmaceutical industries. It is also a highly diverse community, with a large population of Chinese and south Asian immigrants.       Due to it’s popularity and proximity to Toronto, housing in Oakville tends to be expensive, especially property along the waterfront around Old Oakville. However, residential spaces are more affordable than those in Toronto and tend to be larger and with more green space, thus making Oakville an ideal place to raise a family. Additionally, the town offers a wide expanse of parklands, trails, skateboard parks, sports fields and waterfront parks. There are also a number of good schools in the area and you’ll have your pick of public and private schools to choose from. Facilities like children’s sporting activities and day-care are also easily available, although more expensive than in downtown Toronto.

      Many residents take the Go train or make the 30 minute drive to commute to Toronto, making the community ideal for those who prefer to live in a more family environment while still pursuing lucrative careers in Toronto’s business district. Many corporate entities have opened offices within Oakville as well, particularly in the commercial areas of Bronte Village, Kerr Village and Downtown Oakville. These areas also offer a number of characteristics shops and restaurants and are popular spots for dining and high- end retail.

      When you’re in Oakville, you’ll never be at a loss of things to do, especially with the many cultural events that take place year round. Any Oakville local will highlight the downtown Oakville Jazz Festival as a must attend for it’s varied roster of performers and attendees. The street festival Midnight Madness, which takes place in July, is also a must attend and allows local stores and vendors an opportunity to show off their products in a traditional market style.
