Oak Ridge is a handy town for shopping, If you don't have a vehicle you can give Oak Ridge Transit a call 24 hours in advance and they will pick you up for $2.00 one way and $2.00 per stop in town so a trip to a store and back is only $4.00 but you need to plan early in the day b ...Read More
ecause Oak Ridge Transit closes around 4-5pm anyone can ride. However if you are a "no-show" you could get banned for 6 months. This small town is very diverse in the vast amount of local opportunities. Even though the Crime is rated "F" you still feel fairly safe in most cases. You need to be aware of stray dogs that bite as you would in any community. They do have several restaurants and several grocery stores such as IGA, Kroger, Food City, and Aldis, You could easily retire here and plan to live in the area your entire life. The down side of this area is that a lot of drivers drive really fast not paying attention to the road it is common to see car crash debris on the sidewalk at all times. Lack of attentive medical care due to the COVID is very hard to find getting a doctor assigned to you is very difficult and possibly impossible, You have to be very careful about your surroundings due to the high crime rate. It is a very aggressive area among the rich and well to do in my opinion, Do plan to pay at least $150,000 for a decent house to live in, I don't recommend living here unless you have the funds to purchase your own home. The water quality is not the best. Do your research before choosing to move here.

nity exists in Oak Ridge. With a lot of local attractions and families in the area, it is a great feeling to be here. There are a lot of the amenities of a larger city here, but the general feel is still small.
This town is a great place for those who have a love for the outdoors and togetherness. All of the shopping that is well known are local shops in the community. Many restaurants keep the local feel. It is a serene place to be with a great homey feel. I love this city and all of the interactions with the outdoors and nature that it brings.
