Washington Heights, New York, NY: Neighborhood Review User Rating 3.5 rating By Anonymous ( Sep 05, 2012) I am a current resident in Washington Heights, New York. I have lived in Washington Heights for over twelve years now. I really enjoying living here because it is a destination within New York that feels like home. Moreover, it offers a slice of Manhattan within the overwhelming ...Read More city of New York. If I want to go downtown or uptown, I'll just hop on the subway, and if I want my solitude I'll come back to Washington Heights. The Washington Heights Branch Library is minutes away from my house and is an excellent resource for culture, history and reading. You have the Hudson River on the west and the Harlem River on the east, which provides two incomparable forms of landscape that I find continually inspiring in an urban city like New York. Also, the parks and nature landscapes in Washington Heights make it an incredible place in New York to live.

There are many beautiful and important historical buildings and university building in Washington Heights, and if I want to visit a museum, I am just minutes away from an incomparable experience or adventure. I like living in Washington Heights because the rent is affordable, the restaurants are top notch, and the people are decent. I think those three things have been the fundamental reasons I have lived here so long. Also, it allows enough space between where I live and the loud and crazy parts of New York City. I think having a balance between where you live and where you love to go to eat, adventure, see movies, go to concerts and socialize is key to a healthy living experience. So, for me, living in Washington Heights provides that necessary balance of peace and wild nightlife.
