I Won't Ever Leave Mott Haven, NYC User Rating 4 rating By Anonymous ( Jun 10, 2014) Having spent all my life in Mott Haven I can tell you that it is the best neighborhood in the Bronx and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else. When I tell people I live in Mott Haven it is sometimes met with negativity because, let's face it, of all the NYC boroughs the Bronx is ...Read More far from being the most popular one to live in. Yet after 35 years of living here I have no desire to live anywhere else.

Mott Haven runs from East 149th Street to the Harlem River in the west, Bruckner Expressway on the east end of town and Bronx Kill on the south end of town. We're close to three of the stops on the Metro-North Railroad. From 138th Street you can hop on the 6 train to get around the city.

Though I myself am white, most of my neighbors are African Americans and Puerto Ricans and they couldn't be nicer people. The Bronx gets a reputation for being tough, but just like any other area there are great people living here and horrible people living here.

My apartment is right near St. Mary's Park, which is a great place to get some exercise and fresh air at the same time. Since I'm a history buff I also get a kick out of living near our Historical Districts, which are East Mott Haven and The Bertine Block. I love the brownstones in these neighborhoods and I hope to live in one of them someday.

I love organic foods, so the fact that the first organic market to open in the Bronx opened here in Mott Haven makes me one lucky girl and is one of the reasons I love living here the most. Though Mott Haven is sometimes compared to Paris in terms of artistic cities I have not been to Paris so I can't say if my humble little neighborhood measures up. Read Less
