Jamaica New York: The Good, The Bad and the Ugly User Rating 4 rating By Anonymous ( Sep 05, 2012) I have lived in Jamaica, New York most of my life. Jamaica is a neighborhood in New York City. It is found in the borough of Queens towards the southeastern edge. It is a large neighborhood, housing more than 200,000 people each year.

I love this area because of the extremely di

Jamaica is also known for the many celebrities it has produced. Such well-known names as Rocco DeSpirto and Donald Trump lived in Jamaica. Metallica also breifly called Jamaica home before releasing their debut item.

Jamaica is also home to the best pizza in New York. Dani House Pizzareia is the pizza world's best kept secret. It isn't fancy but the pizza is amazing and walking in the door is like going home. Wolfgang Puck Express is also in the area. If you are in the mood for something different, Sagar Sweets and Restaurant carry a large variety of kababs and other Indian delicacies.

Jamaica is the home of the central library of the Queens Borough Public library. This is the most circulated library in the United States. Other things to see include seeing the Grace Episcopal Church complex.

Schools range from public to private and religious schools. Jamaica is in the New York City public school system. It is home to a Science and Technology based high school as well as several catholic schools and even an Islam-based school. The local schools strive to meet the needs of every child.

In the past, this area has been viewed by potential investors as a big risk due to the crime rates in previous years. Because of this, it was hard to attract quality businesses. Crime has since decreased and now, business is on the upswing.

The diverse people, places and food found in Jamaica is sure to please everyone. The charm of this amazing place is difficult to put into words. Hopefully, someday soo, you will see it for yourself.
