You don't wanna go into projects you don't belong at or get caught slippin, you will die over here, i lived in howard, and that where i chose to stay at, I felt so unsafe here that i had to start bringing kitchen knives with me whenever i went out of the house, don't ever move here, stay away from here, please im begging you, you don't know what you're getting yourself into. Brownsville, New York - Unsafe Is Being Kind User Rating 1.5 rating By Anonymous ( Sep 06, 2012) I used to live in Brownsville until I realized it was an unsafe and inhabitable place to live for me and my family. This area is plagued by gang violence and domestic abuse. It was an uncomfortable part of Brooklyn to live in because so much of Brooklyn is beautiful and diverse w ...Read More ith many wonderful things to offer. However, living in Brownsville felt like living in an action packed movie all the time. The noise levels and violence became bothersome, so I moved to Williamsburg, Brooklyn where violence is reduced and there is more of a pleasant atmosphere to live.

I think the toughest thing about Brownsville is the crime and for people who cannot afford the rent in other parts of Brooklyn, Brownsville is appealing. But, paying less rent for more violence and street crime did not seem worth it to me. In fact, Brownsville is statistically known for having some of the highest crime rates in New York City. That is a pretty scary statistic for anyone who wants to live peacefully or raise a family. What is worse is that Brownsville's educational programs and school systems are extremely under nurtured and poor. By that I mean, the school systems here are as dangerous as the streets and violence and crime is experienced at high levels within the school system. My opinion is that in order for Brownsville to be a place to live in New York, one that is safe and secure, then a lot has to change. I think Brownsville has a lot of potential since there are still many historical and cultural landmarks in the city, but there is too much crime that outweighs the good or beautiful parts of the city of Brownsville.
