Brownsville is a place you either is born and raised here, or you have no where else to go so you move here, I was born and raised here and i lived in Brownsville houses, this place has a lot of violence you would think it is Afghanistan, a lot of people get robbed, jumped, and k ...Read More
illed for absolutely no reason, it was labeled as the murder capital of nyc which sucks for us, 18 housing projects in this neighborhood which is the highest in the whole us, whenever i am outside and hear gunshots, it doesn't even scare me anymore, I moved away from here and now live in gowanus brooklyn. Anyone who needs housing, the bronx is better than brownsville, don't come here.

i have lived in brownsville for 30 years of my life, im currently 35 and was so happy to finally leave brownsville and im now currently living in canarsie, a less dangerous neighborhood, as a latino and mexican citizen, it was so horrible here, gun violence, rapes, murders, shoot ...Read More
outs, i you wanted to experience that type of violence, go to brownsville, I would wake up to people having sex outside, people jumping off building committing suicide, it was a whole ass mess here. so many lives were lost here, and i'm literally so happy i got out of here, people here are toxic, just by looking at it you can already smell trouble. You don't wanna go into projects you don't belong at or get caught slippin, you will die over here, i lived in howard, and that where i chose to stay at, I felt so unsafe here that i had to start bringing kitchen knives with me whenever i went out of the house, don't ever move here, stay away from here, please im begging you, you don't know what you're getting yourself into.

I used to live in Brownsville until I realized it was an unsafe and inhabitable place to live for me and my family. This area is plagued by gang violence and domestic abuse. It was an uncomfortable part of Brooklyn to live in because so much of Brooklyn is beautiful and diverse w ...Read More
ith many wonderful things to offer. However, living in Brownsville felt like living in an action packed movie all the time. The noise levels and violence became bothersome, so I moved to Williamsburg, Brooklyn where violence is reduced and there is more of a pleasant atmosphere to live.
I think the toughest thing about Brownsville is the crime and for people who cannot afford the rent in other parts of Brooklyn, Brownsville is appealing. But, paying less rent for more violence and street crime did not seem worth it to me. In fact, Brownsville is statistically known for having some of the highest crime rates in New York City. That is a pretty scary statistic for anyone who wants to live peacefully or raise a family. What is worse is that Brownsville's educational programs and school systems are extremely under nurtured and poor. By that I mean, the school systems here are as dangerous as the streets and violence and crime is experienced at high levels within the school system. My opinion is that in order for Brownsville to be a place to live in New York, one that is safe and secure, then a lot has to change. I think Brownsville has a lot of potential since there are still many historical and cultural landmarks in the city, but there is too much crime that outweighs the good or beautiful parts of the city of Brownsville.
