Talbots Corner - Hillhurst Drive User Rating 4 rating By JLewis ( Mar 28, 2017) I bought my house in April of 2016 and to be honest I was a little scared due to the "stigma" associated with Dickerson Pike. I am a native Nashvillian and everyone has always referred to Dickerson as the place to pick up prostitutes, drugs and crime. However, when I moved in I f ...Read More ound that all of my neighbors were extremely nice, welcoming, smart and upper end middle class. I found a house in the Hillhurst neighborhood and I've been blown away with the pride of ownership, the yards (well kept) and the caliber of people I've met. I would say that around 60% of my neighbors are over the age of 60, black, well educated and very nice people. Think of your favorite grandma, grandpa...that's my neighbors. They grill out, mow their lawns, go to church and have their grandkids over. The about 40% percent are in my bracket, under 35, white, college educated, starting a family and looking for affordable options in a safe neighborhood. I think a lot of people got priced out of the East Nashville area and started to look around for other viable neighborhoods close to downtown. So basically it's a little gem in the middle of East Nashville, it reminds me of Creve Hall in Brentwood. Overall, I feel safer in my neighborhood than I did living off of Lebanon pike off in Donelson. I still wouldn't walk down Dickerson Pike at night or Gallatin road for that matter but I walk around the block during the day. I also spend a lot of time enjoying my backyard and grilling out with friends and family and everyone always comments how quite it is. I've never had any issues with crime or random strangers or people preying on us. I could do with more restaurant options, I usually go downtown or hit up East Nashville 5 points. I've noticed a bunch of restaurants coming in lately though, on the north side of Gallatin, and so I think it's getting hipper! I hope this helps anyone who is contemplating living over in the Talbot's Corner, HIllhurst Neighborhood. I've been thrilled with my property size, 1/2 acre lot and the quality of the homes.
