From good to hood 1.5 rating By Whatever ( May 24, 2017) Hello my name is vinny and I'm 54 years old, I have lived here all my life an let me tell you there is a huge change from when I was a kid. When I was a kid this was a pretty decent place the community was nice, it was a clean area and people were freindly. Over the years people ...Read More moved out and new people arrived in this area, but the new people were not good people. The neiborhood started to change ever since I was a kid really but they were never really bad changes they changed just like anything changed overtime. But it was about up until 16 yrs ago I noticed a BIG change of how things were and how people around the area were . I would say 10/12 yrs ago the neiborhood really started to change I started to see the neiborhood fall apart. It got dirty people weren't freindly, my car was broken into an stodlen. I would say it was was 7 yrs ago when it really went down hill it was was just like ghetto wave hit. I went from seeing people going outside talking to one another, just being a friendly neiborhood ingeneral. To people acting like idiots speeding around, yelling, fighting breaking stuff, just stupid stuff. I went from hearing kids playing and BBQ party's happening to hearing car alarms and police sirens. I recently was was driving around the neighborhood just because I don't go out to much unless it's for something. Let me tell you it was depressing, Garbage everywhere , dirty looking houses cracked up sidewalks,junky cars, graffiti on park signs and some st sighns, I was about 3 minutes into my stroll an I watched a drug deal happen right infront of me, a kid got in the back of a car and the car drove around the block and dropped him off in the same spot and the kid came out of the car with a black bag. I parked my car to walk through through Ohio park and found a dirty heroin syringe only to look up to see 4 kids Like Big kids around 6,3 6,5 and all 4 around the age of 16-18 fighting with everyone one else there holding up there cameras screaming, BEAT HIS A**, CRACK THE NI**A SH*T, F*CK HIS A** Up, it Was just despicable. There has also been a few attempts of people braking into my house which has forced me to put a gate up and bars on my doors along with a few other of my next-door neighbors on the block. I really don't know what happend it seems like I was looking around and everything was good and I blinked and it was the hood. Its weird because it seems like this situation only happend on the west side of the freeway. It's weird if you go to savlend park area it's way different you don't see much of that stuff like you do here. Not saying savlend hasn't changed either it's just not had a getto wave hit it like Morgandale, Crazy thing is there not that far in distance from each other there neiboring neiborhoods. It's almost the same thing if you go 8 blocks south of the cemetery it's ok agian, its weird how it works. Now I have been here 16 yrs to long now I think it might just be my time to start thinking about moving. Now I know I made this seem like a Complete Sh*t Hole, but there is some good still here to its not like you can't walk your dog without getting mugged and it's not like you can't let your children go run around and play it's just that you have to be very aware of what's going on around you and who is exactly all surrounding you. Although if your not from the neiborhood I really don't suggested walking through it to just walk through it and especially if you give off that suburban kid type look or that defense look you might want to stay away, Because I have watched nice kids like that get punked by like 3 or 2 people just because of the look they have to them. If you are From some place like greenfield or Cudahy or stfrancis or Okreek or anywhere like that I don't suggest coming here, if you are going to come here you should probably be a little gettho proofed. I recommend this for singles or couples and some family's. like I said if you are from the suburbs or country don't come here but if you are already from a relatively urban type area I think you would be good. Not to mention this is probably around a 60% Mexican neiborhood so if you are Mexican like myself you might fit in just a tad better. I hoped this helped you and steered you away for the better or convinced you to come here for the better it's really all up to you. Just remember I have been hear a lot longer and I'm just telling you how it has changed and what the bad is doing this place. Bye And have great day. Read Less
