Hickory Ridge-South Riverdale, Memphis - Ups & Downs 4 rating By Anonymous ( Sep 24, 2012) I have lived in Hickory Ridge-South Riverdale for many years. It has had its ups and downs in the past due to a tornado that tore down the mall and crime rates that were on the rise. Since the new mall has reopened and more businesses have followed suit, this area is full of grow ...Read More th and possibilities again. If you are looking for a place to find affordable homes, you will enjoy this area. There are small homes, larger homes, and apartments available to buy or rent. Employment opportunities are looking good in this area right now thanks to the local businesses.

I enjoy visiting the Hickory Ridge Mall often. There are plenty of places to shop from small boutiques to large department stores. There are also many good places to eat at like Mister Tart's Buffalo Wings or Bluff City BBQ. One of the biggest attractions to this mall is the fun carousel. All ages can enjoy this memorable ride and many people plan birthday parties and other events around it.

I feel like our community is really coming together again thanks to the mall and other businesses reaching out and helping people. This area is like a small town, but we are close enough to big attractions in Memphis to still appeal to those people that want to live in an exciting neighborhood. Everyone in this area is friendly and hopeful of the future. The weather in this area is good too. The weather is nice and warm in the summer time averaging around eighty degrees. In the winter time, the weather drops to a chilly temperature and it sometimes snows. The average snowfall is about five inches per year. You can stay comfortable year round as long as you dress according to the outside temperatures. Hickory Ridge is worth looking at if you are looking for a new place to call home. Read Less
