I grew up in Meadows Place and my parents still live there to this day. It is completely suburban, but not cookie cutter. The housing is reasonably priced and it is definitely a middle/working class neighborhood. The interesting thing about Meadows Place is that it is both a city ...Read More
and a neighborhood. It is small enough to walk around and recognize your neighbors, but we have our own police force--a good one at that.
Everyone is very friendly and neighborly. On any given weekend, you will find barefoot children walking the streets, playing pickup games of touch football, and heading to the community pool. There is a strong sense of community in the sense that everyone is at least familiar with everyone else. Parents are actively involved with the PTA and neighborhood organizations. I was most familiar with the summer swim league, which is a great place for kids to meet other kids and parents to hang around and cheer them on. The city baseball fields also get filled come fall and summer and you can always find people cooking out and staying late into the evening.
The elementary school is in the center of the neighborhood and is what I would call, a good school. Overall, Meadows Place is great for families and children. It is a safe place to live and even has its own 4th of July Parade and some pretty solid school carnivals. Being that it is a suburb, there are a few small shopping centers and restaurants around town. We are right next to Sugar Land as well, so there is always a decent variety of bars, restaurants, and stores to go to on the weekends--all within fifteen minutes. There is a lot that I love about Meadows Place. I had an amazing and unforgettable childhood here. I still come to visit from Austin and notice now more than ever how conservative it can feel. That would be my only qualm with it--come election time, the signs are all the same.
