Living in Marshalltown, Iowa, is a nostalgia trip for me. I grew up here, but joined the army straight out of high school. When it was time to retire, I couldn't wait to go back home.

A lot of businesses are moving in and around town, and we have some of the best schools in Iowa. The only thing I found disappointing was the crime rate, which is one of the highest in the state. It's not a place you can leave your door unlocked at night any more.

The best areas in Marshalltown, Iowa, are the restaurants and attractions you won't find anywhere else. An amazing one is the Big Treehouse at the campground. It stands more than five stories high in an old oak tree, and people come from all around to see it. I think they even rent it out overnight. Read Less
