Margate, Florida is Amazing! 4 rating By Anonymous ( Mar 23, 2012) I lived in Margate, Florida for four years with my husband and our kids. We moved to the east coast of Virginia for his job. We miss Margate very much. It was a great place to raise kids and there was always something to do, not to mention the gorgeous weather.

What we loved mos ...Read More t about Margate was how friendly everyone was. We also have family in Miami so it was nice to be nearby, yet not right in the middle of all the chaos in Miami. When you live in Florida, the best part is that there is always something to do. You're never bound by the weather to stay indoors. In the neighborhood we lived in, there was plenty to do right nearby. Our favorite activities were of course the beach, and going to the festivals in town and flea markets. Also a short trip from Margate is Ft.Lauderdale and of course Miami where there are tons of attractions, water parks, dinner shows and everything you can imagine. It's impossible to be bored there.

The only complaints I have about Margate, Florida is that there are some shady areas, but in my experience there is crime everywhere. It's important to scope out the area before moving in, and I can say that in Margate we never heard of any crime. Also, there is the onslaught of tourists during spring break and in the summer. It's understandable though, because who wouldn't want to vacation in the area. I myself cannot wait to go back and wish we never had to leave. Read Less
