Would Welcome the Change User Rating 4 rating By Anonymous ( May 30, 2019) Well so far we have 4 separate families that have moved here. They all like it. We have been looking for 2 years at properties. Since we now live on a lake , that is a must. Some lakes rarely have a sale, like lake Josephine. I love Lake Josephine as well as Lake June, Lake Henry ...Read More , Lake I and so on. You can get land with a house which is nice. Unlike the other review, I like all the wildlife, the quiet, no traffic and small town . I love the Murals in town but think since it is "THE CALLADIUM CAPITAL" if I were in charge , calladiums would be EVERYWHERE! ALL KINDS EVERYWHERE! I WOULD WANT THERE TO BE SO MANY IT WOULD BECOME PART OF THE CHARM! I HOPE I feel better about it once Im here, unlike the last reviewer! I can shop in Sebring, Okeechobee, or arcadia...so that is not a must for me. Read Less
Good Ole' Boys Network User Rating 0.5 rating By Bob WT ( Feb 05, 2018) We have our home for sale, and can't wait to get out of here. In all my years I have never witnessed such a good ole boys network like Lake Placid. Those who are in charge will not allow any shopping, nightlife, eateries, or changes, they want it status quo, which means total bo ...Read More redom. The real estate market here is a joke, with realtors selling under value and scaring those who have their homes on the market telling them their homes are pretty much worthless, meanwhile realtors get their large fees, for doing nothing. If a house sells in a week, it's under priced, period. Believe me, I know what I am talking about, because in Texas I was a realtor. We had our home sold here in Lake Placid, and upon appraisal, lost the sale due to an extremely lowball appraisal by an appraiser who did not do their job. It's disgusting that they can get away with this, but then all you have to do is look why, they want it that way. Even in Sebring, which is only 10 miles away, home prices are much higher. Taxes are high with no services either, it's a joke. There is nothing to do in Lake Placid, so if you want total peace and quiet, this is your place. Other than VFW, American Legion and Moose, it's a dud. Read Less
