ateful eaters and facetious. I've work and shopped in high point. I refuse to go to high point because of how the people act. I've stood in like for 15 minutes at Wal-Mart and a lady came up behind me a minute after I got in line, I finished my transaction as I bagged the lady told the cashier she was in line for 45mins. No she wasn't and it seems to occur all over, sheetz, rite aid, taco bell, office depot, staples, Ross, pet smart, Walgreens, etc. All different types of people from high point. The people there are disgusting. Puss filled infection of society. Avoid this place.

I lived in High Point NC for over 30 years, It used to be a great place to live, then it got so out of control, The High Point Police has lost the respect of its citizens, Police do not care, and they harass people over nothing, and if you complain, nothing is done. Schools are ...Read More
out of control, all the people I know took their children out of the public school system and are home schooling them. Unless you have a lot of money and can live in the Emery wood section, you will have serious problems, and this is not a good place for single females to live. Crime is just to bad. All the great restaurants are in Greensboro. I now live in another state, and feel very safe. In High Point it is not safe to work third shift, if you live in a area other then very expensive homes. My advice is if you have to live there, get yourself a Concealed Weapons permit, and ALWAYS carry a gun. I did for the last 10 years I lived there.

I lived just outside of High Point, North Carolina for about 25 years from the late 1970s to the early 2000s. The city is located in the piedmont region of NC and has a population of about 105,000. It is the only NC city that spreads into four neighboring counties: Guilford, Fors ...Read More
yth, Randolph, and Davidson Counties. It is also home to the Methodist-affiliated High Point University, the interdenominational Christian Laurel University, and South University as well as an extension campus of Guilford Technical Community College. The town was established at the crossroads of the Great Western Plank Road and the North Carolina Railroad. The location was the highest point of the railroad that connected Charlotte and Goldsboro which is where the name originated.
One thing that I remember the most is the Furniture Market. I worked in a pizza place as a waitress and was always warned of the approaching markets as an incredibly busy time. Indeed it was, and I would always make a month's worth of tips in that one week! The Furniture Market is a trade show held twice a year in October and April. It is the largest trade show for furniture and other home furnishings on the planet! It is reported that over 100 different nations attend bringing in over $5.4 billion! Of course I was more interested in the tips I earned at the pizza joint!
High Point always reminded me of a large city with a small town feel. The people are friendly and always say hello. There were 4 distinct seasons which I loved. Seasonal variations are not that apparent in many southern locations. City Lake Park was a great place to go for a picnic, boating, and fishing. There's also plenty for the kids to do with playgrounds, a miniature train, a Merry-go-round, and much more.

The police here do not care as what they have before about protection the community of the people that live here. They school are garage, they do not care anymore about the education for the children, and they rather just seem then fell instead of finding a way to make it better. Now, I would never call myself a citizen of this city, it is just an embarrassment.

about the city. The only thing we were sure would be an improvement was the weather. The average high temperature in High Point in January is 42 degrees, and the average high temperature in July is 80 degrees. There are other benefits to living in High Point aside from the weather.
Aside from the moderate weather, the best thing about High Point is the dining and the many restaurants. There are many excellent restaurants in the area, but our three favorites are the Liberty Steak House and Brewery, Austin's Restaurant, and the Blue Water Grille. There are some neat attractions in High Point as well, including the Queen Anne Ecker House of 1908 and the World's Largest Chest of Drawers. But since we have kids, the number one and most visited attraction is Triangle Park. They have a great playground there, and there's a lot of space in general. We don't shop much, but High Point is known as the furniture capital of the world. So, if you're looking for great deals on furniture, High Point is the place to be.
Overall, we're not disappointed or thrilled with our move to the city of High Point. We're content.

High Point, NC
High Point is a quaint town located in Guilford County, NC. There is a strong feeling of community when you're in High Point because of the proximity of the homes to each other and the small businesses, many that are owned and operated by residents of the city. Although most of the residents in the city own their homes, there are several apartment complexes and suburban rental homes that are occupied or available from time to time.
Parks are abundant in High Point and offer not only recreation for residents and visitors but a way to exercise and hold special events. The city is comprised mostly of families and professionals who either work in High Point or travel to surrounding larger cities, such as Winston-Salem or Greensboro. Many residents follow along liberal political views.
The rent for homes is average for the area and slightly lower than the surrounding counties. The home value is less than the national average as well, making High Point an affordable place to live. There is a balance of ages in the city and ethnic groups. These details make the area a melting pot where everyone can feel as though they belong to the community and interact with each other. Another reason High Point stands out from other cities in the region is because of the dozens of international companies that call the town home. While walking down a sidewalk in front of bustling shops or exploring museums and other attractions, you'll notice the variety of slogans and the languages that are spoken.
High Point is known as the Furniture Capital of the World. The High Point Market is held twice a year and features handcrafted items as well as furniture from large businesses. You can find some of the latest designs, often before they are put on store floors. Keep in mind that this show is for professionals in the business but that most of the furniture purchased is usually seen in shops across the city soon after the event ends.
While traveling in High Point, you'll be able to see a few odd features. One is the Highboy dresser. This oversized piece of furniture can be seen at Furnitureland South. The High Point Cycling Classic is an event held each year that offers fun activities for the entire family including games, music, food, and bike races for all ages. Make sure you visit with an empty stomach so that you can enjoy the delicious barbecue that is known to the area.
A move to High Point offers a way for you to fit in with almost any group while enjoying a variety of activities and events. It's a quiet city that often seems much smaller at times. The small size does offer the benefit of being able to walk to many of the downtown attractions. Taxi services are also commonly used by residents and visitors.
