Hicksville, New York: The Best Community to Live in 4 rating By Anonymous ( Aug 18, 2015) I am a current resident of New York City due to the fact that my husband was transferred for a job. If it was up to me, I would reside in my favorite little community called Hicksville, New York. I loved this town. It was the perfect place to bring up children and know your commu ...Read More nity well. In this little town, I did not drive a lot. I was a stay at home mom, so I did the shopping at the local grocery store without ever having to drive. What I loved about living in this quaint town was the amenities, the low crime rate, as well as the overall cost of houses. Though many aspects of the local area would draw you in, I will say that the weather and the cost of living here are a few of the drawbacks.

My favorite part about my day was in the morning when I walked my children to school. After walking to school, I would take a trip to the local market and acquire produce for that nights dinner. I would also grab a latte from my favorite local coffee shop. Everything about this area screamed community. Another part that I loved was the overall cost of housing. The cost was at a lower rate than the overall housing index in New York. For a 4 bedroom home, it was cheaper than a mid-size apartment in New York City.

Though there were so many great aspects of this community, I will not lie that there are some drawbacks. The weather in Hicksville is very much northern weather. We do quite often get ridiculous amounts of snow. The snow plows are not as good about plowing in non city areas. Read Less
