An ideal combination of country and city. User Rating 4.5 rating By Anonymous ( May 16, 2018) Grayslake, Illinois is located near the border with Wisconsin but is still considered a far north suburb of Chicago. It is home to many excellent and safe neighborhoods and to College of Lake County. The employment prospects in Grayslake are great, considering that the city is so ...Read More close to many major corporate centers. The housing market is favorable to that of anything more south in Cook County with the top advantage being much lower property taxes. The public school system is excellent and boasts a low student to teacher ratio.

Shopping, dining and nightlife in Grayslake are good. The city is close to Gurnee which has a big mall that is perfect to fulfill the family's shopping needs. Grayslake is also close to one of the largest malls in the country, Woodfield Mall, in Schaumburg which is just a short drive to the south.

Ovearll, Grayslake is an excellent community and a wonderful choice for anyone looking to raise a family and settle down. It is close enough to the country to have a slight rural feel but close enough to the city that it has many urban conveniences. Read Less
