Wedgwood's mid century modern, California-inspired homes put it on the map 5 rating By Anonymous ( Jan 26, 2019) With one of the largest collection of mid century modern and ranch homes in Fort Worth, Wedgwood is a great neighborhood that's very quiet but yet close to all the restaurants and shops along Hulen Street and the Hulen Mall. A very family-oriented community, Wedgwood was developed in the 1960's and almost every street name begins with a "W". Historic Fort Worth recently recognized Wedgwood for its "well-located, affordable collection of mid-century modern, California-inspired, contemporary homes". In particular, the architecture firm of Kneer and Hamm designed homes in Wedgwood that are now in great demand! In fact, the late Mayor Bayard Friedman is reported to have owned the beautiful mid century modern on Winifred Drive that was recently featured in the Fort Worth Star Telegram. Prices have soared in Wedgwood so I'm not so sure it's affordable but still a great neighborhood for the price. Read Less

I moved to Wedgwood from Dallas, which is about 40 minutes away. The vibrant neighborhood is located in the southwestern portion of Fort Worth, close to communities such as Candleridge, Kingwood Place ...Read More , Park Palisades, Byers McCart, Edgecliff Village, Worth Heights and Mira Vista. Wedgwood is an excellent place to live if you appreciate urban living. With proximity to the rest of Fort Worth and to nearby Dallas, residents of the neighborhood have unparalleled convenience. Wedgwood is a comfortable and friendly Texas neighborhood. Not only is the weather sunny and pleasant, but so are most of the locals. Better yet, it isn't expensive at all to live in Wedgwood. The neighborhood has everything, including schools, parks, grocery stores, restaurants, libraries and gyms. The elementary schools include Westcreek Elementary School and Bruce Shulkey Elementary School. The middle schools include Trinity Valley and Wedgwood Middle School. The high schools include Southwest Christian School and Southwest High School. Wedgwood is even close to institutions of higher learning such as Texas Christian University and Tarrant County College.

I had an extremely positive experience living in Wedgwood. I had quick access to several popular shopping destinations in the city, for example. These included La Gran Plaza, Ridgmar Mall and Hulen Mall. I had many exciting and tasty dining establishments just minutes away from my apartment. These restaurants included China Jade, Rosa's Cafe and Tortilla Factory, Prima's Pasta and Pizza and Texas Roadhouse. Whether I was in the mood for a hearty American meal or a slice of pizza, Wedgwood could satisfy my cravings. Nightlife is yet another strong suit of this neighborhood. When you live in Wedgwood, you're relatively close to some of the most lively nightclubs in the city. Some local favorites include Yupp's Night Club, Keys Lounge and the Keg Steakhouse and Bar.

While Wedgwood has many terrific points, it isn't the best place around as far as safety is concerned. Fort Worth's crime rate is 39 percent higher than the average for the rest of the state. Having said that, Wedgwood's crime index is 41 percent lower than the average for the rest of the city. When I walked around Wedgwood and Fort Worth in general, I was always very focused on safety.
